Each of these Merchant Companies and Costers has an unique "blaze" or trail marking. Used on trees
in less travelled areas, they are also found painted on rocks, carved into signposts on more travelled routes,
and even posted on signs in front of waystations to identify ownership. While not secret in any sense, woe betide
anyone caught removing or defacing such a mark by the "owning" Company. Similarly, using another
Company's sign to mislead a traveller is considered a killing offense.
Myriad smaller Companies with their own Blazes exist. Here is but a small sample of their designs.
