LI KURANG ("the Mind" in Old Sapoy)
Goals: Convert humankind into an Illithid-allied state
To members of Li Kurang it is painfully obvious that humankind is not the strongest race even on Trishore,
let alone amongst all the realms and worlds it connects with. Thus, we should expect that at some time we
would either be conquered or destroyed. But there is an alternative: by proactively aligning ourselves with
the most powerful species we may attain a "lower" but more favourable status. And what is the logical race?
According to the Li Kurang it is the mind flayers, Ilithidkind.
The Li Kurang has its origins with those humans who "sold out" (according to the ultimately victorious
human supporters) or "saw the obvious" (according to those Illithid sympathizers) during the Elemental Wars
and the Yetdark (ca. 2822 - 3029). Not religious nutcases like those who worshipped the Elder Elemental God, they saw
themselves as realists who preferred to ally with the (supposed) victor rather than become fodder for the elder brain or
suffer larval implantation to become another mind flayer.
Strange as it may seem, finding members is not difficult for this society, as there are many who will sacrifice much to
ensure that they are not at the bottom of any given hierarchy. Even if they have to scramble over the twisted bodies
of those they used to call friends to ensure their place in the food chain.
Other than being aware of the Suriss, and having actually worked with the Black Suriss on occasion, the Li Kurang are not
aware of the details of any other society, though they suspect their existence.
