AVATARS



Avatars are an actual extension of their God. Often created from the God's own spiritual "flesh", or at a minimum a constant drain on their spiritual powers, they are the literal right hand of their God. When sent on errands to other planes they may be slain, but re-form back on their native plane over a period of years or decades. Such a deed will not go unnoticed or unpunished by the affected God.

Note that if they are slain on their home plane it is not possible for them to re-form, and the spiritual energy used to support them is permanently lost to their God.

SEFELDT'S AVATAR -- Level 15 Priest, Level 8 Druid

Sefeldt's avatar appears as a young, slim and serious but beautiful Sapoy woman. Her hair and eyes are so black as to appear almost purple, and her only adornment is a number of silver earrings. She wears a plain white robe which shimmers and glows in sunlight. She uses spells from all spheres except Combat and War, and never a reversed spell.

SPECIAL ATT/DEF: The avatar is immune to all weapons of less than +3 enchantment, and regenerates 3 HP/round if there is evil within 60'. She can scribe a Symbol of "persuasion" twice daily if desired, with no saving throw. In addtion to her Druidic Shapechanging ability, she can go into the Etherial Plane four times per day. On any hit a natural 20 against an extra-planar evil creature, the avatar's +2 Quarterstaff acts as a 20th level Banishment spell, with no save.

FEDERDALL'S AVATAR -- Level 22 Paladin

Federdall's avatar appears as a muscular but lithe and swift Sapoy man. His every move is graceful and measured, his voice resonant and deep. He wears Field Place +5, but his head is bare save for slim band of bejewelled mithral which acts as a Helm +5. Over his armor he wears a pure white cloak, which sets off his dark eyes and hair. He can cast spells from any sphere.

SPECIAL ATT/DEF: The avatar is immune to caused wounds, energy drains, paralyzation, gaseous attacks, blinding and deafness. His only weapon is Gang-Tian ("Dawn Sliver"), a +5 Holy Avenger bastard sword which he uses in a two-handed style. It is intelligent, aligned L.G., and if ever separated from his avatar can teleport back to his hands instantly. Once per day the avatar can utter a Holy Word (treating whatever material plane his is on at that moment as his "home plane"). He wears an earring in his left ear which he will sometimes give to needy or worthy warriors which will act for them as a Ring of Protection +2. The avatar is completely immune to all poisons, and changes them to water if it wishes to. Once per day the avatar can summmon a War Horse (with maximum stats), fully equiped and ready to ride. It wears chain barding +2 and carries a heavy lance +2.

SHELCOR'S AVATAR -- Level 20 Wizard, Level 12 Priest

Shelcor's avatar appears as an elderly but still hale Sapoy male, and due to his clean-shaven face, is sometimes taken to be a very old elf. He has grey hair and dark brown eyes, and wears simple clothes, but always carries a book bound in olive-green leather. The avatar can cast spells from any sphere and any school.

SPECIAL ATT/DEF: The avatar is immune to caused wounds and energy drains, and to any form of magical mind control (Charm, Magic Jar, Domination, etc.). Although he prefers to use spells for attack and defense, if pressed he can Age any being by touch, causing them to instantly age 50-300 years. He can use this attack once per round. The avatar is immune to all weapons of +2 enchantment and below.

KOLVOSS' AVATAR -- Level 20 Fighter, Level 12 Ranger

Kolvoss' avatar appears as a craggy-faced, middle-aged Sapoy warrior, with a touch of grey in his curly black hair. While he enjoys humour (particularly of the grimmer sort), he is generally stern and thoughtful, and only really happy in the heat of a great battle or cunning raid. His bravery and battle-lust are equally powerful, but he is not foolhardy or overzealous. His armor and hammers are always gleaming and ready for battle. His Ranger spell-spheres are noted below.

SPECIAL ATT/DEF: The avatar is immune to all illusions and Fear of any sort. Weapons must be magical to affect him. Thrice daily he can strike his hammers together to create a 16d8 Lightning Bolt 5' wide and 120' long. His twin hammers are +5 weapons, the right-hand one acting as a Dwarven Thrower, and the left-hand one conferring immunity to Magic Missile attacks. He wears Plate Mail +3 which has been Silenced, and Boots of Elvenkind. He wields the two hammers with no penalty, and strikes twice with each per round. The avatar may cast any two spells at 20th level effect from the sphere of War once per day, in addition to his normal Ranger spells (which are from the spheres of Plant, Animal and Healing only, as if he were a 5th level Priest).

JINAT'S AVATAR -- Level 18 Thief, Level 10 Mage

Jinat's avatar appears as a young, unremarkable but lovely Sapoy woman, wearing clothes and adornment that mark her as a moderately successful merchant or trader. A closer examination however reveals her glittering and avaricious black eyes, the fact that her few jewels, rings and so forth are all of extraordinary value, and that the naked short-sword by her side has eerie dark-blue "veins" which seem to shift, move and pulse on its glowing blade.

SPECIAL ATT/DEF: The avatar is immune to any spell or effect which would limit or affect her mobility (i.e. Hold, Trip, Snare, Slow, etc.), and can climb any surface at her normal movement rate (even upsidedown) if using all four limbs. She Regenerates 3 HP/round whenver in shadows or the dark. Once per day she can Summon 2-8 Phase Spiders who will do anything she requests. Her +4 short-sword is of Quickness, is called Siun Ying Lao ("Bloodslake"), and has a vampiric power: any successful backstab results in the victim's lost HP being tranferred to the sword, up to a maximum of 100 HP. These may be given to the avatar any time she wishes by saying the sword's name. Among her normal (but valuable) rings, the avatar will wear a Ring of Mind Shielding on her right hand, and a Ring of Human Influence on her left (the avatar's normal Charisma is 15 as noted above).
