"G"

Gahmey (aka Pumpkin Tree)
A relatively rare but highly versatile tree, it is found only in the Ardor Forest. It is tall (up to 160') with small leathery leaves that remain green and on the tree throughout the year (evergreen). It also has an unique way of growing: it starts as a broad, "puffy" bush, which then is raised by the trunk over many years to about 40' in the air. At his point another "bush" of branches starts at the base, and in turn is pushed skywards as the trunk continues to grow up. Thus, a mature tree of 160' has an odd profile, with "puffballs" or clusters of branches at the top, and every 40' or so below that. It prefers moist bottom-land soil, and in the rainy season in the Ardor Forest in produces many 4"-6" large seeds (that look and taste like small pumpkins, hence its other name). If they fall from the tree they burst and quickly start new trees, but most creatures (including local humans) find them palatable and harvest them before they fall. The wood is prized for its resistance to moisture and the fact that it resists barnacles - boat keels are often of Gahmey wood. Finally, the sap can be rendered to produce the mild narcotic drug Shakay.

Ghast
Species of Undead, uncommon but powerful.

Gibbet Glens
To the north and east the wooded hills are covered in tall longleaf pine and shorter pitchpines, with a very dense ground cover of palmetto, cane and other brush. Passage is invariably slow and noisy, and frequently uncomfortable due to cuts and sharp barbs, not to mention the bugs and numerous monsters (beholders and worse). Spring flash fires or summer lightning-induced fires can rip through large areas very quickly and with deadly effect.
To the south and west, the flatland forest is deceptively attractive. As the pines thin, true palm trees become common, interspersed with evergreen hollies and sycamores. Undergrowth is usually sparser, not uncommonly sumacs in moister soil. From afar it looks pleasant, but the area is evil to the core, with many sentient and killer trees (Hangman Trees, demented treants, etc.). Even the "simple" trees are unpleasant -- nearer the swamp most of the sumacs are poisonous, and worse than poison ivy to touch.
In the heart of the flatland forest to the west, not far north from the town of Bayhead, lives Rimi Gatha. This female Archdruid is on speaking terms with both the townspeople and most of the local monsters, and her magical glen is sometimes visited by both. [See ref. #9 on the MAP]

Gi Hablos
A secret society.

Goblinkind
A number of generally evil races, usually small in stature but able to breed prolifically.

Godun Forest
An older but largely pleasant woodland, it is rich in fruit trees and thus harvested but seldom lumbered. It is dryer to the north, and as one climbs the foothills to the Mountains of the Moon, the soils quickly thin. In a few spots deadfalls and thick undergrowth encourages lesser evil creatures (boggles, etc.), but generally the peaches (south), apples (north), pears (mid), and plums (throughout) are harvested safely.
Maples, birches and oaks are also common, while most glades and openings support abundant sumacs. Spruces and pitchpines appear on the higher, eastern slopes, as do numerous bandit lairs and hill giant and ogre hideaways.
In the southern portions of the forest is ont uncommon to find small groups of Priests to Syphide searching about for older Tillen trees to use in temple rituals. [See ref. #8 on the MAP]

Goldenboughs Forest
Densely wooded and multi-storied, if this forest were any further south it would be a true seasonal tropical rainforest. In many places it is vitually impassable due to undergrowth encouraged by the canopy's loss of leaves in the dry season. Hardwoods and several rot-resistant trees are common, and lumbering is done throughout the forest, particularly in the southern branch. The westernmost branch of the forest is quite safe due to the Gold Dragon in the area. Teak, walnut and mango (for fruit) are all found here. On the wooded foothills of the Mitanpen Mountains to the north are a few stands of very old Tillen trees, closely watched and sometimes harvested by Priests of Syphide.
On the more accessable fringes, notably along the eastern coastal areas, are great rows of mulberry trees, planted to support the local silk industry. The trees' leaves are harvested to feed the silkworms, so large expanses have been planted and are carefully tended to maximize foliage.
Travellers throughout the forest, particularly the areas nearest to population centres, are warned to use caution and heed all warnings and signs that they may see. It is common for Mages of more advanced power (including members of the Phelange itself) to carve out a little private spot in the forest where they can retreat and study "undisturbed". Trespassers, knowing or not, are subjected to lethal discipline. Most lumberers know these regions and may be consulted (with an appropriate fee) for assistance. [See ref. #15 on the MAP]

Gypsy Queens, the
A mysterious race that stands tall in the annals of Seterian history. Curiously, despite their well-known deeds, there are no confirmed images of what they looked like (said to be "elf like" and "fair beyond compare") nor any documents which derive directly from their stay on Trishore.
Where they came from is unclear, but they arrived about 5100 years ago, a few hundred years after the Migration Wars ended and humankind had begun to recover. Their arrival sparked what is still known as the Golden Years, a period of some 600 years of unparalled growth and development. They have left many legacies from their visit. To name but a few of their gifts, they have directly influenced human languages, helped expand knowledge of magic and its uses, and perhaps most importantly helped protect the fragile human presence on Seteria after the Migration Wars.
Their guiding hand can be best exemplified by the fact that within only a few years of their departure, humankind was once again in open warfare with itself (the so called Yearning Years). It is indeed a shame that Firefall (almost 500 years after their departure) destroyed so many records, and it is thus little wonder that there a many who seek to know more about this race.
