- Altyn Forest
-
A rich and varied forest, with a mix of maples, birches and pines, with some aspens further inland mixed with hardy junipers. Most valuable to the woodcutters are the prime stands of white pine used for longboats, and a tall (up to about 110') type of hemlock and is less coarse-grained than usual, and used for all other sorts of construction. Undergrowth is usually sparse, making most of the forest quite passable.
Winters tend to be dry, but localized squalls from the North Sea can dump a lot of snow in a very small area very suddenly: the coastal areas see this effect most commonly. Throughout the year, dense morning mists are common.
Giant-sized humanoids are found throughout the forest, and a Green Dragon makes movement in the northwest dangerous at best.
The common name for this forest, Altyn, is actually a bastardization of the full Ylthic name for the woodland. In Ylthic it is known as Lichaltinallyn, which means "far sail forest". There is some debate (even among the Calandesians) as to whether this refers to the enormous pines and hemlocks used in boatbuilding, or to the story that the very first Ylthic migrants to the region landed near this forest.

- Animal Classification
-
The more common name for taxonomy. An area of research normally reserved for the most learned of sages, elements of this work find their way into common parlance
when humans seek to understand our relations with other creatures, or in practical ways when we wish to learn more about those who prey upon (or ally themselves with) us.
This chart below is a simplification (and only a tiny example) of the monumental work "Of life and the Gods" by Shin Hanang (ca. 2614 PF), which is the most common system in use today.

- Major historical power, and founder of many of today's States.
- Ardor Forest
-
Frequently surrounded by mangrove swamps, this forest is similar to its eastern sister the Goldenboughs Forest, but if anything is even denser and more impenetrable. Only the lure of truly rare woods (like Gahmey and Ulluchu) encourage any regular forays through the dense underbrush and heat.
The Geldron Current keeps the area warm and humid year-round, while in the rainy season it goes from merely oppressive to simply unbearable. Conversely, this inhospitability has encourged many fugatives over the years. Presently, many find succor at the home of the Great Druidess Kerain Jonai. The magical grove where she and her initiates live is sometimes also sought out by adventurers, creating a steady if infrequent traffic in this area of the forest.

- Atheon
-
The potentially-picturesque capital of the Western Kingdom. Set among verdant rolling hills, with mountains in the distance, it is an idyllic spot. However,
the buildings are all uninspired, the common areas unkempt and falling apart, and the citizens only concerned with gossip about their favorite warriors or
tales of battles long in the past.
- Auloron Federation
- A significant state which first comes to preeminence after the Death Reaper Winds end the Dry Years around 2639 PF. Since the Era of Travel this area had been
a dense zone of human habitation, particularly along the rich and fertile banks of the Krinth River. The Federation itslef was a loose confederation of
the numerous Mantaten clans and small kingdoms that were living south of the Mitanpen Mountains in the Geldron Peninsula. For over 100 years they built
their budding empire, to a large part on the backs of Burdue slaves from the Horseclans to the north. When the PO Rebel forces were victorious in 2821 PF
the inhabitants of this area were ruled by Dalmask the Mage.
- Avatar
- A direct manifestation of divine power, Avatar's are a God's helpers and minions. Created directly from their spiritual "flesh" they use the God's power to exist. The Adronese Mythos has several

- Axepalm
- A short, woody-trunked bush (6-8’ tall) surrounded by 6d4 broad palm-like leaves of dark
green with orange spots. Leaves attached individually to trunk by thin, flexible, orange stalks.
